u-blox, known as a leader and innovative company in GPS/Galileo solutions, launches Leon GSM/GPRS wireless modules.
Leon modules are smaller than Euro and R$ 1,00 coin.
The modules are QuadBand, includes TCP/IP stack, antenna supervision and jamming detection engine.
Using AT commands your microcontroller will control Leon thru it’s UART port. Leon also has an I2C port to interconnect with a u-blox 5 GPS/Galileo module, so using only the Leon UART your microcontroller will be able to control both GSM and GPS modules.
Leon has embedded the AssitNow client to allow you to get even better TTFF when using GPS u-blox 5 modules together with Leon GPRS.
Leon modules are SMD and came in tape&reel, allowing you to eliminate connectors and pigtail costs. Also not being BGA it makes the assembly process easier and cheaper.
